SE - Gain Monster...
This one is still a work in progress and is a mish-mosh of ideas. It's partially based on AX84's Hi-Octane and follows a bunch of the mods that the folks on that site have come up with (specifically the DC Raffler ideas). In addition I borrowed (stole) a few Dan Torres ideas from his book and at www.torresengineering.com from his design for the "Tone Frenzy Champ". The amp has a switchable preamp boost stage in addition to the Hi-Octane's sequential gains. The result is a 6-watt 6L6GT based combo amp with absolutely STUPID amounts of gain. It's very controllable and even full tilt it retains a lot of clarity and fat overdrive. Think Mesa-Boogie Mark I and you're in the ballpark. I built this one quite some time ago but it's been modified and rebuilt so many times now that the chassis
is starting to look like swiss cheese. Between this amp and the "Steve's Champ" I could cover just about any sonic territory. Some day I'll get ambitious and get the schematic together.
